Definitely. Partnership extends our reach and helps align resources. We’d love to speak with anyone who is working in the greater interchain ecosystem and interested in helping developers engage with Web3.
Listed below are some of the most frequently asked questions about the
Decentralized Cooperation Foundation. If you have any others or would like
clarity or a more in-depth conversation on anything, feel free to contact us.
DCF is the acronym for the Decentralized Cooperation Foundation. The organization exists to build mechanisms for human cooperation from tools of secure computing, cryptography, and distributed systems.
Yes, we are a Foundation company incorporated under the laws of the Cayman Islands.
DCF is closely allied with Agoric, but exists as an independent entity. The Foundation was initially funded by, and is concerned with, the Agoric ecosystem. That said, our purview is much broader and not exclusive to Agoric; our work is focused on enabling large-scale distributed cooperation and the path to Web3.
The initial DCF endowment came from Agoric in the form of BLD tokens. DCF’s treasury will hold 10% of the total supply of BLD. Looking forward, we hope to inspire other contributors to support our mission
DCF has a broader focus than most similar organizations. Many of the foundations in this space are focused narrowly on one platform or one coin. We are looking at the issues surrounding large-scale decentralized cooperation. Consistent with that, we are also concerned with helping Web1 and Web2 devs make the transition into Web3
DCF is an independent entity. Our acting president is Ric Shreves and we are looking to build a larger team as the year proceeds. Our board of directors has five seats, including Zaki Manian (Iqlusion, Tendermint, Cosmos); Dean Tribble (Agoric, Microsoft), Jason Potts (RMIT University). The remaining two seats will be filled in the near future.
We certainly are. In October 2023, we officially launched our grants program. For more information, including the application to apply, visit our grants page.
Consistent with our focus on ecosystem development, we engage in education, advocacy, and related activities, like grant-making. At present, we are helping the community to develop and refine governance approaches for Agoric and IST, and we are engaging in delegation to Agoric validators in an effort to help build a more resilient and diverse validator network.
At the moment, follow us on Twitter and reach out to us via DM or by the email contact on our website. We are exploring opening other channels and will do so when we can staff them adequately.
We are firm believers not just in the inherent promise of decentralization, but in its necessity as the world transitions into a more decentralized and cooperative future – the future often called Web3. We believe that the Web3 paradigm will provide increased data security, scalability, and privacy for users and mitigate the downsides of centralized platforms and will bring with it the potential to be transformative for both individuals and organizations.
Yes, we are. Presently we are searching for a Grants Manager and an Ecosystem Manager. We will be posting position descriptions on our website soon. If you are interested, reach out to enquiries@dcfoundation.io and include your CV, please.
